حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَرَأَيْتَ الرَّجُلَ يُقَاتِلُ شَجَاعَةً، وَيُقَاتِلُ حَمِيَّةً، وَيُقَاتِلُ رِيَاءً، فَأَيُّ ذَلِكَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ قَاتَلَ لِتَكُونَ كَلِمَةُ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ هِيَ الْعُلْيَا فَهُوَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Tell me, a man fights to prove his bravery, a man fights out of national pride, and a man fights for show—among these, who is the one fighting in the way of Allah?" The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The one who fights so that the word of Allah may be exalted, he is the one fighting in the way of Allah."
