حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ وَعَوْنِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ أَنَّهُمَا شَهِدَا أَبَا بُرْدَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ، قَالَ عَوْنٌ: فَاسْتَحْلَفَهُ بِاللهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَلَمْ يُنْكِرْ ذَلِكَ سَعِيدٌ عَلَى عَوْنٍ أَنَّهُ اسْتَحْلَفَهُ (١)،
Translation
English translation
Abd al-Samad narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, Qatadah narrated to us, from Sa'id ibn Abi Burdah, and 'Awn ibn 'Utbah, that they both witnessed Abu Burdah narrating to 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz this hadith. 'Awn said: He adjured him by Allah, besides Whom there is no deity, that his father had narrated to him that he heard it from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and Sa'id did not object to 'Awn for adjuring him.
