حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَقُولُ: " إِنَّ بَنِي هِشَامِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ اسْتَأْذَنُونِي فِي أَنْ يُنْكِحُوا ابْنَتَهُمْ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، فَلَا آذَنُ لَهُمْ "، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " لَا آذَنُ "، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " " لَا آذَنُ، فَإِنَّمَا ابْنَتِي بَضْعَةٌ مِنِّي يُرِيبُنِي مَا أَرَابَهَا وَيُؤْذِينِي مَا آذَاهَا " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Miswar (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) saying from the pulpit that the Banu Hashim bin Mughira are seeking my permission to marry their daughter to Ali. I will never give this permission—he said this three times. My daughter is a part of my flesh; whatever distresses her, distresses me, and whatever harms her, harms me.
