Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Mughira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) asked me for water. I reached a tent where there was a Bedouin woman. I said to her, "The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) has come and is asking for water for ablution. Do you have any water?" She replied, "May my parents be sacrificed for the Holy Prophet (ﷺ)! By Allah, under the shade of the sky and on the face of the earth, there is no one more beloved and honored to me than the Holy Prophet (ﷺ). This water skin is made from the hide of a dead animal. I do not wish to make the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) impure with it." I returned to the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and related the whole matter. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Go back. If she has tanned the hide, then tanning is its purification." So I went back to the woman and mentioned this issue to her. She said, "By God! I have tanned it." So I took water from it and brought it to the Holy Prophet (ﷺ). That day, the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) was wearing a Syrian cloak, socks, and a turban. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) took his hands out from under the cloak because its sleeves were narrow, then performed ablution and wiped over the turban and socks.
