Shaddad says that once I went to Wasila (may Allah be pleased with him), and there were some people with him. They began to mention Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). When they left, Wasila (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me, "Shall I not tell you what I saw from the Prophet (peace be upon him)?" I said, "Why not?" He said, "Once I came to Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) to ask about Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). She informed me that he had gone to the Prophet (peace be upon him). I sat down and waited for him. Meanwhile, the Prophet (peace be upon him) arrived, accompanied by Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him), and Husain (may Allah be pleased with him), and they were all coming in such a way that each was holding the other's hand. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) entered the house, he called Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) near and seated them, and placed Hasan and Husain (may Allah be pleased with them both) on his thighs. Then he covered them all with a cloak and recited this verse: 'Allah only wishes to remove impurity from you, O people of the household, and to purify you thoroughly.' And he said: 'O Allah! These are my household, and the right of my household is greater.'"
