حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، عَنْ شَدَّادٍ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ، عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ اصْطَفَى مِنْ وَلَدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، وَاصْطَفَى مِنْ بَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ كِنَانَةَ (١) ، وَاصْطَفَى مِنْ بَنِي كِنَانَةَ قُرَيْشًا، وَاصْطَفَى مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ، وَاصْطَفَانِي مِنْ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Wathilah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Allah Almighty selected Isma'il (peace be upon him) from the children of Ibrahim (peace be upon him), then selected Kinanah from the descendants of Isma'il, then selected Quraysh from the descendants of Kinanah, then selected Banu Hashim from the Quraysh, and from Banu Hashim, He selected me."
