حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَمَّارٍ شَدَّادٌ، عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ اللهَ اصْطَفَى كِنَانَةَ (١) مِنْ بَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ، وَاصْطَفَى مِنْ بَنِي كِنَانَةَ قُرَيْشًا، وَاصْطَفَى مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ، وَاصْطَفَانِي مِنْ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Wathilah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Allah Almighty selected Kinana from among the descendants of Isma'il, then selected Quraysh from among the sons of Kinana, then selected Banu Hashim from among the Quraysh, and selected me from among Banu Hashim."
