English translation
It is narrated from Abu Shurayh that on the day of the conquest of Makkah, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave us permission to fight Banu Bakr, so we took our revenge on them. At that time, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was still in Makkah. Then he ordered us to lay down our swords. The next day, a group of us encountered a man from Banu Hudhayl in the Sacred Sanctuary who was going to greet the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He had caused them much harm in the days of ignorance, and they were searching for him, so before he could reach the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and obtain a guarantee of safety for himself, they killed him. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was informed of this incident, he became extremely angry. By Allah, I have never seen the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in a more angry state than that. We hurried to Abu Bakr, Umar, and Ali to request them to intercede for us, and we were trembling with fear for our destruction. After finishing the prayer, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up and praised Allah as is His due, then said: "As for what follows: Allah alone has made Makkah a sanctuary, not mankind. Even for me, fighting in it was made lawful only for a short time yesterday, and now it is as sacred as it was when Allah first made it a sanctuary. In the sight of Allah, the most rebellious of all people are three types: 1. The one who kills someone in the sanctuary. 2. The one who kills someone other than his own killer. 3. The one who seeks retribution for blood shed in the days of ignorance. By Allah, I will surely pay the blood money for the person whom you killed." Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) paid his blood money.
