حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، أَنَّ رَبِيعَةَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ الدِّمَشْقِيَّ، أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْأَسْقَعِ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الصُّفَّةِ، فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا بِقُرْصٍ فَكَسَرَهُ فِي الْقَصْعَةِ (١) ، وَصَنَعَ فِيهَا مَاءً سُخْنًا، ثُمَّ صَنَعَ فِيهَا وَدَكًا (٢) ، ثُمَّ سَفْسَفَهَا، ثُمَّ لَبَّقَهَا، ثُمَّ صَعْنَبَهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ: " اذْهَبْ فَاْئتِنِي بِعَشَرَةٍ أَنْتَ عَاشِرُهُمْ "، ، فَجِئْتُ بِهِمْ فَقَالَ: " كُلُوا وَكُلُوا مِنْ أَسْفَلِهَا، وَلَا تَأْكُلُوا مِنْ أَعْلَاهَا، فَإِنَّ الْبَرَكَةَ تَنْزِلُ مِنْ أَعْلَاهَا، فَأَكَلُوا مِنْهَا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Wathilah that I was among the people of Suffah when one day the Prophet (ﷺ) asked for a loaf of bread, placed it in a bowl, broke it into pieces, poured water that was already kept there over it, then mixed that water into it and began to stir it. Then, after softening it, he said: Go, bring ten men to me, of whom you will be the tenth yourself. I brought them. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Eat, and eat from below, not from above, because blessing descends on the upper part. So all of them ate that food and were satisfied.
