حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَازِمٍ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ جَرِيرٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أُوصِي بِمَالِي كُلِّهِ؟ قَالَ: " لَا " قُلْتُ: فَثُلُثَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: " لَا " قُلْتُ: فَنِصْفَهُ؟ قَالَ: " لَا ". قُلْتُ: فَالثُّلُثَ؟ قَالَ: " الثُّلُثَ، وَالثُّلُثُ كَبِيرٌ (١) ، أَحَدُكُمْ يَدَعُ أَهْلَهُ بِخَيْرٍ، خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَدَعَهُمْ عَالَةً عَلَى أَيْدِي النَّاسِ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated from Hamzah bin ‘Abdullah, from his father, that Sa’d said:
When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) set out on the campaign to Tabook, he left ‘Ali in charge. [’Ali] said to him: Are you leaving me behind? He said: "Does it not please you to be to me as Haroon was to Moosa? Except that there is no Prophet (ﷺ) after me."
