حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَفْصٍ، فَذَكَرَ قِصَّةً، قَالَ سَعْدٌ: إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " نِعْمَ الْمِيتَةُ أَنْ يَمُوتَ الرَّجُلُ دُونَ حَقِّهِ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated from ’Amir bin Sa"d bin Abi Waqqas, that his father Sa"d said:
I said: O Messenger of Allah, can I bequeath all my wealth (to charity)? He said: "No." I said: Two thirds of it? He said: "No.” I said: Half of it? He said: “No” I said: One third? He said: "One third, and one third is a lot. If one of you leaves his family in a good state, that is better for him than leaving them dependent on what people give them."
