حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِنَّمَا الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ، يَسْتَجِنُّ بِهَا الْعَبْدُ مِنَ النَّارِ، هُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Fasting is a shield by which a person protects himself from Hell, and fasting is especially for Me, therefore I alone will give its reward.
