حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَبَايَعَهُ عَلَى، ، الْإِسْلَامِ، فَجَاءَ مِنَ الْغَدِ مَحْمُومًا، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَقِلْنِي، فَأَبَى فَجَاءَهُ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مُتَوَالِيَةٍ، كُلُّ ذَلِكَ يَقُولُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَقِلْنِي، فَيَأْبَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَلَمَّا وَلَّى قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ الْمَدِينَةَ كَالْكِيرِ تَنْفِي خَبَثَهَا، وَيَنْصَعُ طَيِّبَهَا " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Bedouin came to the service of the Prophet (ﷺ) and pledged allegiance on his blessed hand. After a short while, he developed a very high fever. He came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "Cancel my pledge of allegiance." The Prophet (ﷺ) refused. This happened three times. The fourth time, he did not come. The Prophet (ﷺ) inquired, and the companions informed him that he had left Madinah Munawwarah. Upon this, the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Madinah Munawwarah is like a furnace; it removes its impurities and makes the good thing bright and clean."
