حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: " أَفَاضَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيْهِ السَّكِينَةُ، وَأَمَرَهُمْ بِالسَّكِينَةِ، وَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَرْمُوا بِمِثْلِ حَصَى الْخَذْفِ، وَأَوْضَعَ فِي وَادِي مُحَسِّرٍ " (٢)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (ﷺ) set out, he kept his pace slow and instructed the people to do the same, but in the valley of Muhassir he quickened the pace of his mount and instructed them to pelt the devil with pebbles made of clay.
