Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, that when his father, Abdullah bin Amr bin Haram, was martyred, he owed a debt of some dates to a Jew. He left behind two orchards in inheritance, and all the fruit of both was encompassed by the Jew’s debt. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to the Jew: “Is it possible for you to take some dates this year and defer some for the next year?” He refused. Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “When the time comes to harvest the dates, call me.” I did so. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came along with the two Shaykhs and sat at the top or in the middle, and said to me: “Start measuring and giving to the people,” and he himself began to supplicate. So I started measuring and giving to everyone until the entire debt was paid off from just the smaller orchard. After that, I presented fresh dates to eat and water to drink. They ate and drank. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “These are the blessings about which you will be questioned on the Day of Resurrection.”
