حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ النُّعْمَانِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَأَلَ أَهْلَهُ الْإِدَامَ، (٣) قَالُوا: مَا عِنْدَنَا إِلَّا الْخَلُّ، قَالَ: فَدَعَا بِهِ، فَجَعَلَ يَأْكُلُ (٤) وَيَقُولُ: " نِعْمَ الْإِدَامُ الْخَلُّ، نِعْمَ الْإِدَامُ الْخَلُّ " (٥)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) asked his family to bring some curry. They said, "We have nothing except vinegar." The Prophet (ﷺ) had it brought and ate it, and said: "Vinegar is the best curry."
