حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: بَعَثَنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِحَاجَةٍ، فَجِئْتُ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي نَحْوَ الْمَشْرِقِ، وَيُومِئُ إِيمَاءً عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ السُّجُودُ أَخْفَضُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ، فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيَّ، قَالَ: فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ قَالَ: " مَا فَعَلْتَ فِي حَاجَةِ كَذَا، وَكَذَا إِنِّي كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet sent me on an errand while going towards Banu Mustaliq. When I returned, the Prophet (ﷺ) was praying facing east on his camel. I wanted to speak, but the Prophet (ﷺ) gestured with his hand. This happened twice. Then I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) reciting, and he was gesturing with his head. After finishing the prayer, the Prophet (ﷺ) said: What happened regarding the task I sent you for? I did not reply because I was praying.
