حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ، مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الْمَوَالِ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ (٢) عَلَى جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي مُلْتَحِفًا فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ، وَرِدَاؤُهُ مَوْضُوعٌ، فَقُلْنَا لَهُ: تُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ، وَرِدَاؤُكَ مَوْضُوعٌ؟ قَالَ: لِيَدْخُلَ عَلَيَّ مِثْلُكَ فَيَرَانِي " أُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ، إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي هَكَذَا " (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
Muhammad bin Munkadir says that once I went to the house of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him). He was wrapped in a single cloth and was performing prayer, although another sheet was lying near him. When he finished the prayer with salam, we asked him about this issue. He replied: I did this so that fools like you may see that I am praying in a single cloth. I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) praying in this manner.
