حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْفُضَيْلُ (٢) يَعْنِي ابْنَ سُلَيْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي يَحْيَى، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، أَنَّ قَوْمًا قَدِمُوا الْمَدِينَةَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَبِهَا مَرَضٌ فَنَهَاهُمُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَخْرُجُوا حَتَّى يَأْذَنَ لَهُمْ فَخَرَجُوا بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّمَا الْمَدِينَةُ كَالْكِيرِ تَنْفِي الْخَبَثَ، كَمَا يَنْفِي الْكِيرُ خَبَثَ الْحَدِيدِ " (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that some people came to the service of the Prophet (ﷺ) and pledged allegiance at his blessed hand. At that time, there was an epidemic in Madinah, so the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade them from leaving Madinah Munawwarah without permission. However, they left Madinah without taking permission. Upon this, the Prophet (ﷺ) said that Madinah Munawwarah is like a furnace which removes its impurities.
