Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I was once on a journey with the Prophet (ﷺ). Suddenly, while walking, my camel stopped at a place and would not move. I heard the voice of the Prophet (ﷺ): "Jabir, what has happened to your camel?" I replied, "O Messenger of Allah! I do not understand what has happened to it." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Hold it and give me the whip." I gave the Prophet (ﷺ) the whip. The Prophet (ﷺ) struck it once, and it took me ahead of everyone. On this occasion, the Prophet (ﷺ) said to me, "Jabir, will you sell me your camel?" I replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "When we reach Madinah." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) asked, "Did you get married after your father's martyrdom?" I replied, "Yes." The Prophet (ﷺ) asked, "To a virgin or to a previously married woman?" I replied, "To a previously married woman." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Why did you not marry a virgin, so that she would play with you and you would play with her, she would make you laugh and you would make her laugh?"
