حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ، عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، حَدَّثَنَا جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: " بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ نُصَلِّي الْجُمُعَةَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، إِذْ أَقْبَلَتْ عِيرٌ تَحْمِلُ طَعَامًا "، قَالَ: " فَالْتَفَتُوا إِلَيْهَا حَتَّى مَا بَقِيَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، إِلَّا اثْنَا عَشَرَ رَجُلًا، فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ: {وَإِذَا رَأَوْا تِجَارَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا انْفَضُّوا إِلَيْهَا وَتَرَكُوكَ قَائِمًا} [الجمعة: ١١] " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, on a Friday, a caravan arrived in Madinah Munawwarah while the Prophet (ﷺ) was delivering the sermon. All the people left following the caravan, and only twelve men remained seated in the mosque. Upon this, the following verse was revealed: "And when they see a trade..." etc.
