حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي دَاوُدُ بْنُ الْحُصَيْنِ، مَوْلَى عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ وَاقِدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " إِذَا خَطَبَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَرْأَةَ، فَقَدِرَ أَنْ يَرَى مِنْهَا بَعْضَ مَا يَدْعُوهُ إِلَيْهَا، فَلْيَفْعَلْ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: When one of you sends a proposal of marriage to a woman, and it is possible for him to see in her that quality because of which he wishes to marry her, then he should do so.
