حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، وَحُجَيْنٌ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: كُنَّا يَوْمَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ أَلْفًا وَأَرْبَعَ مِائَةٍ، فَبَايَعْنَاهُ وَعُمَرُ آخِذٌ بِيَدِهِ تَحْتَ الشَّجَرَةِ، وَهِيَ سَمُرَةٌ، وَقَالَ: " بَايَعْنَاهُ عَلَى أَنْ لَا نَفِرَّ، وَلَمْ نُبَايِعْهُ عَلَى الْمَوْتِ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that we, fourteen hundred people, pledged allegiance to the Prophet (ﷺ) under the acacia tree on the occasion of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah that we would not flee from the battlefield; we did not pledge allegiance upon death.
