حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، وَكَثِيرُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَاجَةٍ لَهُ، فَرَجَعْتُ، ، إِلَيْهِ، وَهُوَ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ، فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ، فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيَّ، وَرَأَيْتُهُ يَرْكَعُ وَيَسْجُدُ، فَتَنَحَّيْتُ عَنْهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي: " مَا صَنَعْتَ فِي حَاجَتِكَ؟ " فَقُلْتُ: صَنَعْتُ كَذَا وَكَذَا، فَقَالَ: " أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَمْنَعْنِي أَنْ أَرُدَّ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا أَنِّي كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) sent me for a task of his. I went, and when I returned after completing that task, I greeted the Prophet (ﷺ) with salam, but he did not reply. Then I saw him bowing and prostrating, so I stepped back. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Did you complete the task?" I replied: "Yes, I did it in such and such a way." The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Nothing prevented me from replying to you except that I was performing prayer."
