Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) once said: Today I saw in a dream as if I was in a secure coat of mail. I saw a cow that was slaughtered. I interpreted this as the secure coat of mail meaning Madinah, and the cow, by Allah, as goodness. Then the Companions said: If we remain in Madinah and they come to us, we will fight them. And they said: O Messenger of Allah! In the time of ignorance, our enemy was never able to enter Madinah, so how can they enter it in Islam? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: As you wish. And saying this, he put on his armor. Seeing this, the Ansar said: It does not befit any Prophet (ﷺ) that after putting on his armor, he should take it off until he has fought.
