Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " دَعَا عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ بِصَحِيفَةٍ لِيَكْتُبَ فِيهَا كِتَابًا لَا يَضِلُّونَ بَعْدَهُ "، قَالَ: " فَخَالَفَ عَلَيْهَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ حَتَّى رَفَضَهَا " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) asked for a paper before his passing so that he could dictate a writing after which people would not go astray, but Umar held a different opinion regarding this until the Prophet (ﷺ) left it.
