Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ أَنْ نَصُومَهُ، وَقَالَ: " هُوَ يَوْمٌ كَانَتِ الْيَهُودُ تَصُومُهُ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) commanded us to fast on the day of Ashura, while previously the Jews used to fast on this day.
