حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ، يَزْعُمُ " (١) أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنِ الصُّوَرِ فِي الْبَيْتِ، وَنَهَى الرَّجُلَ أَنْ يَصْنَعَ ذَلِكَ، وَأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ زَمَنَ الْفَتْحِ، وَهُوَ بِالْبَطْحَاءِ، أَنْ يَأْتِيَ الْكَعْبَةَ فَيَمْحُوَ كُلَّ صُورَةٍ فِيهَا، وَلَمْ يَدْخُلِ الْبَيْتَ حَتَّى مُحِيَتْ كُلُّ صُورَةٍ فِيهِ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade keeping pictures in the house, and at the time of the conquest of Makkah, when the Prophet (ﷺ) was at the place of Batha, he ordered Umar to go to the Ka'bah and erase all the pictures present in it, and he did not enter the Ka'bah until all the pictures in it had been erased.
