Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Jibreel came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: Stand up and offer the prayer. So, after the sun had declined, he offered the Zuhr prayer. Then he came again at the time of Asr and said: Stand up and offer the prayer. So, he offered the Asr prayer. Then he came at the time of Maghrib and said: Stand up and offer the prayer. So, after the disappearance of twilight, he offered the Isha prayer. Then he came again at the time of Fajr and said: Stand up and offer the prayer. So, at the time of the break of dawn, he offered the Fajr prayer. Then, the next day, he came again at the time of Zuhr and said: Stand up and offer the prayer. So, when the shadow of everything became equal to its length, he offered the Zuhr prayer. Then he came at the time of Asr and said: Stand up and offer the prayer. So, when the shadow of everything became twice its length, he offered the Asr prayer. Then he came at the time of Maghrib; its time was the same, it did not change. Then he came for the Isha prayer when half or a third of the night had passed; the Prophet (ﷺ) offered the Isha prayer at that time. Then he came for the Fajr prayer when the light had spread well and said: Stand up and offer the prayer. So, the Prophet (ﷺ) offered the prayer. After this, Jibreel said: The time for the prayers is actually between these two times.
