حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ: سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ، يَقُولُ: " أَكَلْنَا زَمَنَ خَيْبَرَ الْخَيْلَ، وَحُمُرَ الْوَحْشِ، وَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْحِمَارِ الْأَهْلِيِّ " (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the time of the Battle of Khaybar, we ate the meat of horses and wild donkeys, but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade (us from eating) domesticated donkeys.
