Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " تَسَمَّوْا بِاسْمِي، وَلَا تَكَنَّوْا بِكُنْيَتِي، فَإِنِّي أَنَا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ، أَقْسِمُ بَيْنَكُمْ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Name yourselves after me, but do not take my kunya, for I am Abu al-Qasim and I distribute among you."
