Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the occasion of digging the trench, three days passed over the Prophet (ﷺ) and his companions in such a state that they had not tasted anything. While digging the trench, at one point the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: "O Messenger of Allah! Here a rock from the mountain has come in the way." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Sprinkle water on it." They sprinkled water on it. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) came, took a pickaxe, recited Bismillah, and struck it three times. At that moment, the rock broke and became a mound of sand. Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I noticed at that time the Prophet (ﷺ) had tied a stone to his blessed stomach.
