حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، قَالَ: كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ قَتَادَةُ، حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: " صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ، وَعُمَرَ، وَعُثْمَانَ، فَكَانُوا (٣) يَسْتَفْتِحُونَ (٤) بِـ {الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ} [الفاتحة: ٢] ، لَا يَذْكُرُونَ {بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ} [الفاتحة: ١] فِي أَوَّلِ الْقِرَاءَةِ، وَلَا فِي آخِرِهَا " (٥)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) and the three Caliphs (may Allah be pleased with them) used to begin the recitation in prayer with "Alhamdulillahi Rabbil 'Alamin" and they did not mention Bismillah at the beginning or end of the recitation.
