English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man submitted in the court of the Prophet, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! Who is my father?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Your father is so-and-so." Upon this, the following verse was completely revealed: "O you who believe! Do not ask about things which, if made plain to you, may trouble you."
