حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَتَّابًا، مَوْلَى ابْنِ هُرْمُزَ يَقُولُ: صَحِبْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ فِي سَفِينَةٍ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: " بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، بِيَدِي (٢) هَذِهِ - وَأَشَارَ بِيَمِينِهِ (٣) - عَلَى السَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُ " (٤)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I pledged allegiance to the Prophet (ﷺ) on the condition of listening and obeying, and the Prophet (ﷺ) added the restriction of "as much as you are able."
