حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، قَالَ: سُئِلَ أَنَسٌ عَنْ صَلَاةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِاللَّيْلِ، فَقَالَ: " مَا كُنَّا نَشَاءُ أَنْ نَرَاهُ مُصَلِّيًا، إِلَّا رَأَيْنَاهُ، وَلَا نَائِمًا إِلَّا، رَأَيْنَاهُ " (٢)،

Translation

English translation

Humaid says that a person asked Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) about the night prayer of the Prophet (ﷺ), so he replied: "At whatever time of the night we wished to see the Prophet (ﷺ) praying, we could see him, and whenever we intended to see him sleeping, we could also see him (sleeping)."
