حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: سَمِعَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ بِبَدْرٍ وَهُوَ يُنَادِي - يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ -: " يَا أَبَا جَهْلِ بْنَ هِشَامٍ، يَا شَيْبَةُ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ، يَا عُتْبَةُ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ، يَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنَ خَلَفٍ، هَلْ وَجَدْتُمْ مَا وَعَدَ (٣) رَبُّكُمْ حَقًّا؟ فَإِنِّي وَجَدْتُ مَا وَعَدَنِي رَبِّي حَقًّا ". قَالُوا: كَيْفَ تُكَلِّمُ قَوْمًا قَدْ جَيَّفُوا - أَوْ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ أَنْ يُجِيبُوا -؟ قَالَ: "، ، مَا أَنْتُمْ بِأَسْمَعَ لِمَا أَقُولُ مِنْهُمْ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Muslims heard the Prophet (ﷺ) calling out at the well of Badr: "O Abu Jahl bin Hisham! O Utbah bin Rabi'ah! O Shaybah bin Khalaf! Did you find true what your Lord had promised you?" "As for me, I have found true what my Lord promised me." The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! Are you calling out to people who have died?" The Prophet (ﷺ) replied, "You do not hear what I am saying any better than they do."
