حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، وَيَزِيدَ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " يَقْدَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَقْوَامٌ أَرَقُّ مِنْكُمْ أَفْئِدَةً ". فَقَدِمَ الْأَشْعَرِيُّونَ فِيهِمْ أَبُو مُوسَى، فَجَعَلُوا لَمَّا دَنَوْا مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ (١) يَرْتَجِزُونَ:، [البحر الرجز]، غَدًا نَلْقَى الْأَحِبَّهْ ... مُحَمَّدًا وَحِزْبَهْ (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Such people will come to you whose hearts will be even softer than yours." Accordingly, once the Ash'ariyyin came, among whom was Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) as well. When they approached near Madinah Munawwarah, they began to recite these rajaz verses: "Tomorrow we will meet our friends, that is, Muhammad (ﷺ) and his companions."
