English translation
Waqid bin Amr bin Sa'd, may Allah have mercy on him (who was a very handsome and well-built man), says that once I went to the house of Anas, may Allah be pleased with him. He asked me, "Who are you?" I told him that my name is Waqid and I am the grandson of Sa'd bin Mu'adh, may Allah be pleased with him. He said, "You greatly resemble Sa'd," then he was overcome with weeping and cried for a long time. Then he said, "May Allah's mercy descend upon Sa'd; he was a great and tall man among the people." Then he said that once the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sent an army towards Akid Roomah. He (Akid Roomah) sent to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, a silk cloak "which was embroidered with gold." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, wore it and ascended the pulpit, stood or sat, but did not say anything. After a short while, he descended, and people began to touch and look at the cloak. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Are you amazed at this?" The people said, "We have never seen a garment better than this before." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "What you are seeing, in Paradise, the handkerchiefs of Sa'd bin Mu'adh, may Allah be pleased with him, are far better than this."
