Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that among the captives of the Battle of Autas, women were given to us as spoils of war. Those women had husbands, and we did not feel it was right to have relations with them while their husbands were alive. (So we asked the Prophet ﷺ about this matter.) Then this verse was revealed: "And married women are also forbidden to you, except those whom your right hands possess." Thus, it is lawful to benefit from those who are your slave women.
