حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ أَبِي: وحَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِذَا اجْتَمَعَ ثَلَاثَةٌ فَلْيَؤُمَّهُمْ أَحَدُهُمْ، وَأَحَقُّهُمْ بِالْإِمَامَةِ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Where there are three people, at the time of prayer one should become the imam, and among them, the one who knows the most Qur'an has the greatest right to lead.
