حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ (٣) ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُسْتَمِرُّ بْنُ الرَّيَّانِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " كَانَ فِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ امْرَأَةٌ قَصِيرَةٌ، فَصَنَعَتْ رِجْلَيْنِ مِنْ خَشَبٍ، فَكَانَتْ تَسِيرُ بَيْنَ امْرَأَتَيْنِ قَصِيرَتَيْنِ (٤) ، وَاتَّخَذَتْ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، وَحَشَتْ (٥) تَحْتَ فَصِّهِ، ، أَطْيَبَ الطِّيبِ الْمِسْكَ، فَكَانَتْ إِذَا مَرَّتْ بِالْمَجْلِسِ حَرَّكَتْهُ فَنَفَحَ (١) رِيحَهُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Among the Children of Israel, there was a woman of short stature. She had two artificial wooden legs made (to make herself appear taller). When she walked, the women on her right and left would appear shorter than her. Then she had a gold ring made and filled the space beneath its gem with the best fragrance, musk. Whenever she passed by a gathering, she would move her ring and its fragrance would spread there.
