All religions and all societies have given parents an honorable status. Even the Quran provides Dua for parents. Our parents have sacrificed so much to raise us.

The beauty of parental love is that it’s the only form of love that is truly selfless, unconditional, and forgiving. We can never repay them for their kindness. But one of the best things that you can do is to constantly make sincere dua for parents.

Parents in Islam

Allah says in the Quran:

“Your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him and that you be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour” -(Quran 17:23)

“Our indebtedness to our parents is so immense that it is not possible to repay it fully. In lieu of this, it becomes obligatory for us to show the utmost kindness, respect, and obedience to our parents.” -Quran 31:14–15

Not to mention how Quran stressed the mother’s sacrifices by saying: “We enjoined the human being to be good to his parents. In pain did his mother bear him and in pain did she give birth to him”. – Quran 46:15

Also Prophet s.a.w. also encouraged us to keep praying for our parents as he Said “When a person dies, his deeds come to an end, except for three: A continuous charity, the knowledge that others benefited from, and a pious son who (continues to) pray for him” – (Sahih Muslim).

Rabbi irhamhuma kama rabbayani sagheera

رَّبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا

Meaning

My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small.

Meaning

Rabbana-ghfirlī wa liwālidayya wa liman dakhola baytī mu’minan wa-lilmu’minīna wal-mu’mināt

رَّبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ

Meaning

My Lord! Forgive me, my parents, and whoever enters my house in faith, and all believing men and women -Quran [71:28]
