Darood Ibrahimi – Durood e Ibrahim

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ,
اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ
Transliteration:
Allaahumma salli ‘alaa Muhammadinw wa ‘alaa ‘aali Muhammad; kamaa sallayta ‘alaa ‘Ibraaheema wa ‘alaa ‘aali ‘Ibraaheem, ‘innaka Hameedun Majeed.
Allaahumma baarik ‘alaa Muhammadinw wa ‘alaa ‘aali Muhammad; kamaa baarakta ‘alaa ‘Ibraaheema wa ‘alaa ‘aali ‘Ibraaheem, ‘innaka Hameedun Majeed.
Durood e Ibrahim meaning in English is:
O Allah, bestow Your favor on Muhammad and on the family of Muhammad as You have bestowed Your favor on Ibrahim and on the family of Ibrahim, You are Praiseworthy, Most Glorious.
O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You have blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim, You are Praiseworthy, Most Glorious.

What is Durood e Ibrahimi
A Durood is a type of prayer and blessing that we send to Prophet Muhammed (ﷺ). In the Quran, Allah says that he and his angels sent the Darood to his Prophet (ﷺ) and orders us to send Durood to our Holy Prophet (ﷺ).
Durood e Ibrahim or Darood Ibrahimi is considered the most authentic and prominent Durood Shareef recited in Salah, after Tashahhud. By reciting Durood Ibrahim, we ask Allah (SWT) to send peace and blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad and his family.
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “The person closest to me on the Day of Judgement is the one who sent the most Salat upon me.” [at-Tirmidhi]
We Pray to Allah to send Peace and Blessings upon Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his Family.
When to recite Durood
It is better to recite Salat Ibrahim daily. However, some special times are recommended to say for example:
- After Attahyat at end of Salah
- After Azan
- on Friday.
Reciting Durood Benefits
There are many benefits of reciting Durood regularly. Some of the benefits are:
- The person who recites the maximum number of Durood in his entire life will be the closest to the Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) on the Day of Judgment.
- Allah (SWT) showers 10 blessings on the person who recites Durood each time.
- It is an expiration of sins.
- It is a means of obtaining the mercy of Allah (SWT).
- The one who recites Durood Shareef will rise in status ten degrees, 10 sins get forgiven, and 10 good deeds are recorded.
- Reciting Durood Sharif eases poverty, hunger, and hardship.
- The heart gets purified upon recitation of Durood Sharif every day.
- It is the source of acceptance of Dua when recited by Durood Shareef.
- The person who recites Durood Shareef will overcome his troubles.
- The recitation of Durood will draw you closer to Allah & His Prophet (SAWS).

Narrated Abu Mas’ud Al-Ansari (RA): Bashir bin Sa’d said: “Allah has commanded us to invoke blessings on you, O Messenger of Allah! But how should we bless you?” Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) kept quiet (a while) and then said, “Say: ‘O Allah, bless Muhammad and the members of his family as You have blessed Ibrahim, and grant favours to Muhammad and the members of his family as You have granted favours to Ibrahim. In the worlds You are indeed Praiseworthy and Glorious.’ And the Taslim is as you know. [Reported by Muslim].
