Zamzam Water is one of the most lasting miracles of Islam, representing Allah’s mercy. Zamzam first sprang 5,000 years ago from Zamzam well. Drinking Zamzam water is an essential aspect of the holy pilgrimage when Pilgrims from around the world travel to Makkah for Hajj and Umrah which provides lots of spiritual and health benefits.

Zamzam Water Story
Prophet Ibrahim was ordered by Allah to take his wife, Hagar, and his son, Ismail to Makkah. During this time, Makkah was barren land.
Following the commands of Allah, the Prophet left his wife and son with some dates and water and returned home. After spending some time on this barren land, the dates and water ran out.
As young Ismail started crying with thirst, The mother of Isma`il thought that he was dying of thirst.
Hagar started looking for water. She left him and went to the mountain of Safa (the nearest mountain to her). She stood on it and started looking at the valley keenly so that she might see somebody, but she could not see anyone.
Then she descended from Safa and when she reached the valley, she ran like a person in distress and trouble, till she crossed the valley and reached the Marwah mountain where she stood and started looking, expecting to see somebody, but she could not see any.
She went running up and down seven times the hills of Safa and Marwa (that is why circumambulating the Kaaba seven times is an important ritual of Umrah and Hajj both).
When Hajar (as) had run between the mountains seven times, she heard a voice and she said, ‘O, (whoever you may be)! You have made me hear your voice; have you got something to help me?’.

After calling out, she saw an angel Gabriel* stroke (dug) the earth (at the place of Zamzam with his heel or his wing), till water flowed from that place.
Hajar (as) was amazed to see water flowing out of the earth! She started making something like a basin around it, using her hand in this way and started filling her water skin with water. Then she drank (water) and suckled her child.”
Angel Jibril (as) said to her, “Don’t be afraid of being neglected, for this is the House of Allah which will be built by this boy and his father, and Allah never neglects his people” [Tafsir Ibn Kathir].
He thus reminded her that, no matter how long they remained in the desert, she could continue to have confidence that Allah would provide for her, just as He had sent her water when she had thought the ground was barren.
*A different version of the story says that it was young Ismail who began kicking the ground. Suddenly, Hagar noticed water flowing out from the spot where Ismail was kicking. She carefully collected some water for herself and started feeding it to Ismail.

Zamzam Water Dua
It was reported that when Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him) drank from the water of Zamzam, he said:
Allaahumma inni as’aluka `ilman naifi`aaa, wa rizqaw wasi`aaa, wa shifa’am min kulli da’i
اللهم إني أسألك علما نافعًا، ورزقًا واسعًا، وشفاء من كل داء
O Allah! Grant me beneficial knowledge, abundant provision, and healing from every disease
Zamzam Water Benefits
The Prophet said that Zamzam is The best water on the face of the earth is Zamzam water. In it is food for nourishment and healing for illness. [Saheeh al-Jaami’, 3302]
It is blessed by Allah and is believed to be a cure for all illnesses. It is also believed that if a person makes a dua after drinking Zamzam water, his wish will be fulfilled.
Tests have proved that Zamzam water has 366mg/1 of bi-carbonates which makes it the purest water on earth.
Through the hairline fractures of the 17 meters comprise igneous rock, the water seeps on and gains its high mineral content beneficial for humans.
Zamzam water is considered to have healing properties due to it having a high content of calcium and magnesium salts.
It is considered that drinking Zamzam water increases the immunity of the body.
