Tawakkul Meaning
Tawakkul (Arabic: تَوَكُّل) means dependence on Allah as our source of support and strength when facing trials and challenges in life (Reliance on Allah).
A Muslim first fulfills all of one’s duties and then leaves the result to Allah and accepts the result with reliance and consent.
The literal meaning of the word Tawakul is to appoint someone as a deputy. The person who will be a deputy wants to rely on a person who is stronger, more compassionate, more knowledgeable, and wiser than him.
In short, it means to trust in Allah and not worry about how it ends.
Tawakkul Benefits & Importance
By completely trusting Allah and relying on Him, we are not depressed by what we may lose or intoxicated by our success. We know that everything is in Allah’s hands. And that makes us not only humbler but more submissive to Lord, thus better believers.

In Quran
The number of Quranic verses and hadiths that speak about it signifies its importance. Also, most of the books written by Muslim scholars on Etiquettes, contain a chapter on Tawakkul. Starting with:
- “And whoever Whoever relies on God, He is sufficient for them.” [Quran 65:3]
Not only does Allah assure that those who have Tawakkul in Him are sufficient but also Allah loves to have Tawakkul in him.
- “Allah – there is no deity except Him. And upon Allah let the believers rely.” Quran 64:13
- “Surely, Allah loves those who place their trust in Him” Quran 3:159
- “And do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites but do not harm them, and rely upon Allah. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.” Quran 64:48
also in the same Surah Allah says:
- “And rely upon Allah, and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.” Quran 64:3
