Saudi Arabia Is Celebrated Valentine’s Day for the “First Time”

Recently Saudi Arabia has witnessed different kinds of reforms. Some important ones include the right to woman to register childbirth, marriage or divorce, to drive and to be issued official family documents and serve as guardians to minors.

And further, ending a 35-year ban on cinemas and allowing music concerts, and have opened up the country to visitors other than pilgrims. In a simple sentence, Saudi Arabia is rapidly moving towards Modernization keeping aside the traditional teachings of Islam.

And now It’s legal to celebrate even Valentine’s Day in the Kingdom Of Saudi  Arabia. Before, it was illegal and punishable. Until last year, there was arrest for the people violating the Islamic laws and celebrating Valentine’s Day.

According to the Arab News, Saudi Arabia is legally allowing people to buy flowers, chocolates, and gifts for the occasion of Valentine’s Day.

Further, Shaikh Ahmad Qasin Al-Ghamdi, the former President of Makkah’s CPVPV(Commission for the  Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice), said that celebrating Valentine’s Day is the form of love and everyone can celebrate it.

But as we all know that Valentine’s Day has nothing to do with the traditional knowledge of Islam and it has no reference in the Holy Qur’an and Hadiths. So, I would like to urge the Muslim Brothers and Sisters to preserve themselves from anything that can lead us to Hellfire. May Allah guide all of us on the right path.

I would also like to know your opinion on the Decision of Saudi Arabia to legalize the celebration of Valentine’s Day.
