Hadith of Amr ibn Umayyah al-Damri (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ عَمْرِو بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ الضَّمْرِيِّ، * ٢٢٤٧٧ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ (١) [قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ] : وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا مِنْ ابْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ بِالْكُوفَةِ وَقَالَ لَنَا فِيهِ ابْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ: عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، وَأَمَّا أَبِي فَحَدَّثَنَاهُ عَنْهُ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ الزُّهْرِيَّ، وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ بِالْكُوفَةِ جَعَلَهُ لَنَا، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَى حَدِيثِ أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، أَخْبَرَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ: " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَهُ وَحْدَهُ عَيْنًا إِلَى قُرَيْشٍ قَالَ: فَجِئْتُ إِلَى خَشَبَةِ خُبَيْبٍ وَأَنَا أَتَخَوَّفُ الْعُيُونَ، فَرَقِيتُ فِيهَا، فَحَلَلْتُ خُبَيْبًا فَوَقَعَ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ، فَانْتَبَذْتُ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ، ثُمَّ الْتَفَتُّ فَلَمْ أَرَ خُبَيْبًا، وَلَكَأَنَّمَا (٢) ابْتَلَعَتْهُ الْأَرْضُ، فَلَمْ يُرَ لِخُبَيْبٍ أَثَرٌ حَتَّى السَّاعَةِ (٣)،

It is narrated from Amr bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) sent him alone as a spy towards the Quraysh. (The enemies had martyred Khubaib (may Allah be pleased with him) and had hung his body on a piece of wood. I reached the place where Khubaib (may Allah be pleased with him) was hung. I feared the spies of the Quraysh, so I quickly climbed up and untied Khubaib (may Allah be pleased with him). He fell to the ground and I fell far away. When I returned to Khubaib (may Allah be pleased with him), he was nowhere to be seen. It seemed as if the earth had swallowed him. This is the reason that until now, no trace of Khubaib (may Allah be pleased with him) has been found.)

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى (٤) ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، أَخْبَرَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ: " أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ " (٥)، ،

It is narrated from Amr bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) wiping over his leather socks.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ: " أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَكَلَ عُضْوًا ثُمَّ صَلَّى (١) وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Amr bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) eat the meat of a limb, and then he performed the prayer without making a new ablution.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَيَّاشُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ كُلَيْبَ بْنَ صُبْحٍ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّ الزِّبْرِقَانَ حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ عَمْرِو بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ الضَّمْرِيِّ قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ، " فَنَامَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ حَتَّى طَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ لَمْ يَسْتَيْقِظُوا، وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَدَأَ بِالرَّكْعَتَيْنِ فَرَكَعَهُمَا، ثُمَّ أَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ فَصَلَّى " (٣)،

It is narrated from Amr bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were on a journey with the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) slept at the time of Fajr, and no one woke up until the sun had risen. Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), making up for it, first performed the two Sunnah (units), then established the prayer and led the Fajr prayer.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ الْيَمَانِيُّ (٤) ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عَمْرِو، ، بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ الضَّمْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ: " أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَالْعِمَامَةِ " (١)،

It is narrated from Amr bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) wiping over his leather socks and turban.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ الضَّمْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَالْخِمَارِ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Amr bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) wiping over his leather socks and turban.

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ " (٣)، ،

It is narrated from Amr bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I saw the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) wiping over his leather socks.

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ صَالِحٍ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ: حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ قَالَ: " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَحْتَزُّ مِنْ كَتِفِ شَاةٍ، فَدُعِيَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ، فَطَرَحَ السِّكِّينَ وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ " (١)،

It is narrated from Amr bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) eating the meat of a goat's shoulder. Then he was called for prayer, so he threw away the knife and did not perform fresh ablution.

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْكُلُ يَحْتَزُّ مِنْ كَتِفٍ، ثُمَّ دُعِيَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَصَلَّى وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ " (٢)، ،

حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى، وَحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّ جَعْفَرَ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ الضَّمْرِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ: " رَأَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ " (١)، ،
