Hadith of Abu Hurayrah Al-Dawsi from Ubayy ibn Ka‘b (may Allah be pleased with them)

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ أُبَيًّا، قَالَ: "مَا حَكَّ فِي صَدْرِي شَيْءٌ مُنْذُ أَسْلَمْتُ، إِلَّا أَنِّي قَرَأْتُ آيَةً " فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ فِيهِ عُبَادَةَ (١)، حَدِيثُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ الدَّوْسِيِّ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، •

The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، وَهَذَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنِ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ،، ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "مَا أَنْزَلَ اللهُ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ، وَلَا فِي الْإِنْجِيلِ مِثْلَ أُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ، وَهِيَ السَّبْعُ الْمَثَانِي، وَهِيَ مَقْسُومَةٌ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ عَبْدِي، وَلِعَبْدِي مَا سَأَلَ " (١)، ، •

It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) with reference to Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has not revealed any Surah like Surah Al-Fatiha in the entire Torah and Gospel. This is the Sab'a Mathani (the seven oft-repeated verses), and (Allah says) this Surah is divided between Me and My servant, and My servant will receive what he asks for.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ (١) أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ سُورَةً مَا أُنْزِلَ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ، وَلَا فِي الزَّبُورِ، وَلَا فِي الْإِنْجِيلِ، وَلَا فِي الْقُرْآنِ مِثْلُهَا؟ " قُلْتُ: بَلَى. قَالَ: "فَإِنِّي أَرْجُو أَنْ لَا أَخْرُجَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْبَابِ حَتَّى تَعْلَمَهَا " ثُمَّ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ، فَقُمْتُ مَعَهُ، فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِي، فَجَعَلَ يُحَدِّثُنِي حَتَّى بَلَغَ قُرْبَ الْبَابِ، قَالَ: فَذَكَّرْتُهُ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، السُّورَةَ الَّتِي قُلْتَ لِي؟ قَالَ: "، ،

It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) with reference to Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Shall I not teach you a Surah the like of which is not found in the Torah, the Psalms, the Gospel, nor even in the Qur'an itself?" I said, "Why not?" The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I hope that you will not leave through this door until you have learned it." Then the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) stood up and I stood up with him. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) took my hand and began to talk to me, and as we walked, we reached near the door. I reminded the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Please tell me the Surah about which you spoke to me." The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "When you stand to pray, what do you recite?" He recited Surah Al-Fatiha. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "That is the Surah. That is the Seven Oft-Repeated (verses), and that is the Great Qur'an which has been given to me."
