Hadith of a man from the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him)

حَدِيثُ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ٢٠٥٨٦ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنَ سُوَيْدٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُطَرِّفَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: كَانَ بِالْكُوفَةِ أَمِيرٌ (١) ، قَالَ: فَخَطَبَ يَوْمًا، فَقَالَ: " إِنَّ فِي إِعْطَاءِ هَذَا الْمَالِ فِتْنَةً، وَفِي إِمْسَاكِهِ فِتْنَةً، وَبِذَلِكَ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ حَتَّى فَرَغَ، ثُمَّ نَزَلَ " (٢)، ،

Mutarrif bin Abdullah says that in Kufa, a companion of the Prophet (ﷺ) was the governor. One day, while delivering a sermon, he said: "There is a trial in giving wealth and there is a trial in withholding it." This is the same thing that the Prophet (ﷺ) once said while standing in his sermon, until he finished and came down from the pulpit.
